Who We Are

The Nurses Honor Guard tradition began as a meaningful way to recognize and celebrate the lives of nurses who devoted themselves to caring for others. The Tennessee Nurses Honor Guard, based in Cookeville, Tennessee, is composed of active and retired FNPs, RNs and LPNs from the Upper Cumberland region. Our members proudly honor the men and women of our community who have dedicated their lives to service and compassion.
Where We Serve

There are 11 independent Nurses Honor Guard groups throughout the state of Tennessee. Each group serves designated counties within its region with a contact person for its service area.
The Tennessee Nurses Honor Guard serves 10 counties in the Upper Cumberland region, including Clay, Cumberland, DeKalb, Fentress, Jackson, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, Smith, and White.
Services

The Tennessee Nurses Honor Guard offers two distinct services to honor nurses and their families:
1. Honor the Living
2. Final Tribute
Over time, Nurses Honor Guard organizations have been established across the United States to ensure that every nurse receives a meaningful and heartfelt recognition for a lifetime of compassion, dedication, and care.
Donations

The Tennessee Nurses Honor Guard is committed to serving our community with compassion, respect, and dignity. With your generosity, we can continue to provide support to nurses, and their families in times of need.
Activities
In addition to our services, we are committed to being active in the community through Veteran’s Day and Christmas Parades, Wreaths Across America, July 4th festivities and other activities. We also attend and participate in the nursing pinnings at Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) and Fortis Institute.
Our fun times include a paint party, self defense session, Christmas in July and even a trip to Washington D. C. to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Nurses Memorial. Along with 400 nurses across the nation, we attended the first National Nurses Honor Guard Conference in KY and hosted the first Tennessee State Nurses Honor Guard Conference. Through the years, we will continue to be active while making special memories together.
